In the office now
We’re working on a new index to Justin Smith Morrill, Father of the Land Grant Colleges by Coy F. Cross II (Michigan State University Press, 1999). At present the book has a partial ‘Index of Proper Names and Places’; we are producing a full subject index which will be submitted to the publisher for consideration in a future edition.
Index to Tunbridge Cooks 1761-2011
Tunbridge, Vermont celebrated the 250th anniversary of its founding in 2011. Tunbridge is a small but proud town in central Vermont, pop. maybe 1,300 on a good day. If you don’t know Tunbridge and the Tunbridge World’s Fair, you should google it—it is the town that Norman Rockwell only dreamed about.
Among many other commemorations of this momentous year, the Tunbridge Historical Society compiled Tunbridge Cooks 1761-2011. Ostensibly a local cookbook, it is that and far more. Contributions were solicited from residents, former residents and descendants of present and former residents, not just for recipes but also brief family histories. It is as much a genealogical resource as it is a cookbook—the recipes are a snapshot of Vermont cookery over the past century or so, and you can even learn how to salt your own pork.
Ashton Indexing has created an index to Tunbridge Cooks, indexing not only the recipes but also the family histories. Read the cookbook but then read the index; a link appears below. Please contact us at info@AshtonIndexing.com if you would like to receive the fully-formatted index by e-mail (with correct indenting, line spacing, etc.) as a .pdf file.
